Sup Girls in the 60's Cough Cool

coughcool:

Premier: COUGH COOL

MP3: Cough Cool - Sup Girls In The 60s

Cough Cool’s Dan Svizeny has tended to trade in the sludgier and darker school of solo guitar pop; buzzsaw guitars and snakey basslines all swamped under dense billowing echo. That said, his knack for melody has always been evident beneath the murk (and also in his band Nude Beach), but on this new track it’s 100% sweetness straight up. It’s totally riding on some JAMC tip with the drum crashes, elsewhere it’s all tender guitar hums and love letter lyrics; super fleeting but it still manages to stick around in yr head for the perfect amount of time.

ROSE QUARTZ wrote about this new one. Its about girls who were born in the 40’s that i dream about.

written in my bedroom, recorded in his…love it

Tuomas Toivonen

Architect Tuomas Toivonen’s professional career as an artist, performer, DJ and journalist spans over a decade of constant activity and output. WHOLI Nude Beach

thehumantouch:

Nude Beach - WHOLI (Studio Version)

in february ‘10 nude beach went into an actual studio, with actual tape, actual mixers, actual amps, actual drums, and actual people. we started to record, then five minutes in to the rock, the power in new hope went out for two days. we went back on a sunday and recorded seven songs. we thought that maybe someday someone would want to put them out or something. no one really cared, it may have been because we didnt play them for anyone, but they have kind of been buried ever since.

2/4 members of nude beach live in far off places and whenever we played live we bored people. we think its because we have beach in our name and dont play with a stand-up drummer. we don’t really play live anymore. maybe we will someday soon.

we are working on new stuff for a full length cassette and we have a 7 inch coming out with group tightener. so this is what we sound like when we don’t get drunk, write a song, record it and put it on the internet within an hour. maybe we should do that more often.

love,

dan

oh, good times, this almost brought a tear to my eye. i miss our bro-rock lineup. nude beach is not dead, just partially dismembered. we will rise again.

Her Jazz: Weekend Recap: Blackhawks → herjazz.org

theoreticalgirl:

Friday night I wound up at the Ox for one of those “chillwave” shows the kids are always talking about these days. I’m pretty certain I was one of 5 people above the age of 25. Anyway, you should know that the majority of this “chillwave” stuff consists of even less inspired takes on new wave…
